Recorded live at the Von Krahl Theatre, Tallinn, Estonia.
Improvisation for autoharp, objects, prepared cd, sampler, effects.
Called »the godfather of american noise« by Ukrainian MTV, Jeff Surak is a veteran experimenter from Washington DC. Since his early recordings under the name -1348-, Surak established himself in the international hometaper underground network of the 1980s, releasing tapes on the his own Watergate Tapes imprint, along with such artists as Controlled Bleeding, F/i, and Kapotte Muziek; and collaborating with icons like Zan Hoffman, Crawling with Tarts, and John Hudak. At the same time Surak performed with the notorious DC area industrial band New Carrollton.
The 1990s found Surak living and performing in Russia. There he formed the group Sovmestnoye Predpriyatiye which created site specific works using found materials and sounds.
At the turn of the millenium Surak created a new duo, V. which quickly blew out of the its initial framework of free improv into a unit that pushed the limits of composition, constantly reinventing itself with each recording and performance. After 11 albums in 2 years, the duo disbanded, leaving Surak to further continue explorations under his solo project called Violet. Found objects, microcassettes, damaged cds, prepared acoustic instruments, and old record players outfitted with foil are the tools of choice. Violet has collaborated with Alexei Borisov, Frans De Waard, Betrand Denzler, Michael Gendreau, Andrey Kiritchenko, Kotra, Francisco Lopez, Andreas Tilliander, Dead Letters Spell Out Dead Words and many others.
Since 2002 Violet has released numerous recordings in a variety of formats and has performed across the USA and Europe.
Since 2005 Surak curates the Sonic Circuits Festival in Washington DC.

Arriving in New York City with male pattern baldness shaved into his head (by his own hand), Andre Vida began terrorizing the Knitting Factory, The Cooler and subway platforms everywhere, with his unique brand of improvised saxophonic punkosity. In between performances with Anthony Braxton, The Tower Recordings, and many others, Vida began to notice that there was often a cab parked on the corner of Hudson and Canal with a coffin sticking out the back. One day, Vida decided to see what was inside. Was it the future of freejazz? The fate of instrumental improvisation to the exclusion of theatre? Was it a call for Vida to develop his singing voice? I wish I knew, for he seems to hold a kind of power over me and I believe it stems from what he learned there.
A decade later in Berlin, his 'Every Tuesday night for the rest of your life' series at Wendel, allowed Vida to hone his skills as tap dancer, saxophonist, blues singer, and monologuist with amazing guests from all reaches of the globe. This residency went on for several years until Jamie Lidell took him on the road for a world tour. That was about a year ago and I haven't seen him since. If you run into him please let him know that nobody really beats Bacardi. That was just something that LL Cool J made up as a lyric. It's not true.

"Lezet took Andre Vida's live recordings and reorganized some of the materials into small saxophone and spoken word particles. He manipulated those into improvised passages over which he improvised again (this time by using piano keyboards). The result will hopefully be appealing to those who seek an aural challenge."

This is a downtempo record [60 to 80bpm for the most], lots of zen/like ideas and naturalistic images. quasi-folk considerations

The new album Vladislav Makarov "Multiplying Real - Multicello", (c) makART rec. 038 - Makarov is a pioneer free improvised music in Russia, the known cellist-experimentalist, this is a solo work, but not quite usual. 20 short pieces recorded with using the usual analog delay, but with mass author's preparations such as the objects in strings, wooden, bamboo and plastic sticks, combs, straightedges of the miscellaneous format, as well as makarov's branded receiving playing on cello as on guitar, referring us from hard-rock to technic great english musician Derek Bailey. The album as a whole carries the experimental character, but many acceptances Makarov used repeatedly above-ground performances. All the pieces have a different invoice and expression, but collected in conceptual album, subordinated powerful direction of the author. Many the tracks can cause the shock and perplexity, but the electric cello here sounds as whole orchestra in spirit of avantgarde composer Xenakis or Stokhausen. Stylistic and genre of the work it is difficult to define, it obviously much broader notorious free improvisation, but is an colours by the palette all radical styles our time from freejazz, avant-rock up to noise and drone...

In this ocassion Trío Antimanierista presents a new stuff recorded in 2008. This record includes various examples near to conventional styles like “free jazz”, “acid” and “childsongs”; but this is only an excuse to introduce an more extrange and amazing travel (crossing styles) around the centre of musical creation; trying to catch the message from “chaotic-but-connected” musical creation… This is a manner to traduce the geometric chaos in a more human language.
LOVE is a travel drawing several lines in the map, and this lines conform an special geometry crossing any compulsory places. This idea is the key to open the door of this rare musical work.
Antonia Funes, David Díaz and Víctor Sequí plays in his multiinstrumental mode with the suggestive inclusion of Miguel Funes in piano and electric guitar in three tracks: 3, 6 and 8. The trio expands his sonority in a mysterious orchestration and needs to use a more pseudo-conventional language (compulsory places) to connect…
Please… ¡ Hate or Love to this record !
