These 41 studies are part of the preparatory works realized during the conception/composition of "Théorème de point fixe" — a discographic publication by Franck Smith influenced by algebric topology and scientific concepts on abstract spaces, around the ''fixed point theorems'' of Solomon Lefschetz, Bonislaw Knaster and Alfred Tarski... "Studies on fixed point theorems" documents the genesis of the official cd release and contains only inedit sound material not used on the final disc.

The cover art features Sabrina Siegel’s “Nature’s Recomposition #10, birds”, created in a similar vein as her music, where she creates " situations where Nature/being may compromise my compositional control as artist. The works thus become loci for dialogical events in collaboration with Nature and yield a more organically complex composition."

melting clouds is a post-rock, psychedelic, experimental, meditative band from Kyiv. Created in Spring of 2009 it's still looking for its own means of expression in sound and musical approach. Their music is comprised of considerably modified guitar sound added to distinctive atmospheric electronic background with the support of live drums and percussion. The musicians often abandon the riffic sound in favor of creation of sonic atmosphere to create a mood and their music becomes slightly meditative in a very unusual interpretation of post-rock.

Kabor - Dmitry Levchenko - guitar, vocals, keyboards, programming
Jack - Eugene Matkovskii - drums, programming

ivan talaichuk - sinthesizer
liliya Kovtun - video installation
oleg levchenko - director

1,5 hours of combined music and video created a frighteningly spacious atmosphere of arched galleries, enticing the listener with its rich sound of at times enveloping, at times tearing and hacking passages, enclosed into smooth and diverse video footage. The play of sound and light subtly captivated the space not letting to ignore the impulse, making the listener either fully accept everything that was going on as a phenomenon and realize oneself as an empathetic creator or fully reject what was going on, which appealed to variety of feelings and experiences, both enticing and frightening, claiming the listener for the ability to respond.

The diverse fusions of the listener and the spectator, the light and the music, the idea and the shape created highly complex, but cozy picture, where everyone would be free to become a light and fleeting cloud, entrusted to the wind to finally melt, but stay.

Old folk songs have no need to be reinvented. They have no needs at all. But like our memories of the dead, we must resurrect them from time to time, because they cause us pleasure, dread or pain.
The central theme of Litanies in Zero Kelvin is death, the final entropy state. Death has never held any intrinsic meaning to me. But there are bound to be some spiritual mysteries involved in any attempted rapprochement. The songs I use in Litanies are not strictly speaking sacred, though their intentions are often just that.
The sources are mostly old Russian folk songs and English ballads. The imageries of the words, but also the cosmologies which inspired these songs, have moved and terrified me since the day I learned to sing them. James Joyce’s one hundred letters of The Fall are a natural choice as facilitators of the transition from the old and familiar to the new and incomprehensible. As is it’s contemporary - the theremin with it’s space-age connotations.

Born in Moscow by Dutch and Indian parents, Girilal Baars is a musician, singer and composer living in Uppsala, Sweden.
