Polyrhythmic excursions and energetic synth structures, coltish noise cascades and rank power play – “Mucking Felt” and “Fucking Melt” are investigations of today’s possibilities of free jazz and noise rock. The two EPs are their second and third release after releasing the CDr “Juice of Pictures” on the Cologne based Noise Label BlackGapDeathTrap, but the first one acting on their primal territory, playing live-electronics and drums. Always well structured, but nevertheless highly impulsive, this music leaves the mark of being as complex as intense. Whereas “Mucking Felt” lives from its powerful and virtuosic play, “Fucking Melt” is just one tour de force of grim distorted sound explosions. Crackling & banging drums, screaming & bursting synths – “Mucking Felt” and “Fucking Melt” are two EPs cram-full of pure sonic buzz.
Landing Swabs is a young improv duo from Cologne/Germany with Sebastian Hammerschmidt on analogue synthesizers/effects and Matthias Schwarz on drums/percussion/found objects founded in 2006. Main musical directions of the projects are experimental rock improvisations, basement noise, classical free-jazz power play as well as explorations in the conceptuality of soundorientated minimal music and musique concrete.
